Combine teacher, artist and entertainer, and you’ll have Simla Akyol, the enthusiastic creative force behind It’s a Piece of Cake, a children’s party and entertainment services in San Francisco. Her mission is simple, she says: “Our number-one priority is for kids to have fun.” Akyol meets this goal by custom-designing a celebration to match the interests of her client’s child—whether a Nascar themed party, a tea, or a disco. “Your child provides the vision,” she says, “and we provide the expertise.”
Offering a complete birthday service that includes everything from invitations and crafts to goodie bags and clean-up, she makes the event stress-free for parnets. But if you want help with only an element or two— say, decorations or entertainment—she’s flexible (just ask Stanlee R. Gatti Designs and Paula LeDuc Fine Catering, who call on Akyol to provide children’s activities at their adult events).
While many of Akyol’s clients are based in Marin, she has also held etiquette lessons for youngsters at the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay. Maybe it’s her costumes and lively, fun spirit, but “Elbows Off The Table” participants now request a second helping, please.
